Should I vote republican or a democrat? I despise both parties.

That said, I'd like to stop the flow of illegals across the southern border. I'd also love to see us allow in many more talented, educated people from all over world.

What do you think? After re-reading the above, I feel like I should probably vote republican, but i just hate most republican politicians!

One of the reasons LGBTQ+ issues dominate the news is because Republicans are making dehumanizing and stripping away their rights a centerpiece of their agenda at the state level. It’s entirely a culture war game and a distraction from the fact they are doing nothing at all to improve people’s lives.

But if the GOP were to roll with a Mitt Romney or a John McCain, they'd win everything. There's been serious democratic overreach - from soft on crime to some of the trans absurdities. There's a lot of space for common sense candidates. But Republicans refuse to go there. They are 100 percent invested in Donald Trump. And that makes them awful and repellent.

The Republicans could sweep across the board if they could run a moderate like Romney. The Democrats have gone off the deep end, but as you say, Trump is repellent.

You and the rest of the dummies who are practically baying to vote Republican are part of the problem. You don’t see that though, do you? Your reply will be of the “omg you’re such a partisan!” variety, but whoop de ding. Which Republicans have presented any sort of plans or governance? Which ones have actually acted against the worst impulses of the GOP fringe (now the base and no longer “the fringe” at all)? Abortion is functionally illegal in multiple states, prenatal care is worse, pregnant women who were actually just trying to have a baby have to wait to be near enough to death to get a life saving abortion… where has any Republican put any brakes on this?

You all want to pretend that Trump is the only problem. He’s not. He’s the weird boil that signifies blood poisoning. But ohhhhh the Democrats want trans people to feel safe. (And for the record I do agree that trans activists have gone too far but they still get murdered way more than people born into the right gendered body so I can see where it’s coming from. You can only hold people down for so long before something snaps).

Anytime your democrat party speaks out about moderation and not demanding wide open borders, uncontrolled violent crime, and abortion to one minute before the baby is born whilst forcing the tax payer to foot the bill, you let us know that republicans are fringe.

Any time your Republican party quits lying and spreading conspiracy theories to simple-minded voters like you willing to believe anything, you let us know.

No your party is worse.. no your party is worse... no it's your party.. no, no your party.... geez Louise children, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out both parties are no longer serving the people well

You Republicans always try to suggest a false equivalency. The Republicans in Congress participated in Jan. 6 to try to overthrow the government. Turn off Fox News. It is poison.

Our Federal Government had been showing signs of dysfunction and and poor leadership long before Jan. 6th 2021. We haven't had a newly elected president that made sense since the 1990s. I realize your depth in political thought doesn't go back any further than when you tuned in to what happened on Jan 6th.

Think progressives like AOC and squad don’t have any sense of morality or ethics. Or common sense.

In general, am scared and worried about the sharp uptick of misogyny across both the right and the left.

I’m with you. I vote both R and D. Voted Biden last time, but can’t do it again due to current admin’s lies about science and reality. Will not vote Trump, so likely will vote 3rd party.

OP is clearly a Democrat.

I have voted for either party in the past. i guess the question is, when it comes to actually voting for things in Congress, or getting items brought to a vote, which party does a better job keeping the lunatic fringe in line?

I think it is important for the fringe to be vocal, because discourse is important, and you need to know where the edges are. All ideas should be heard, and bad ones should be called out as such. Debate is good. Name calling and disinformation are not.

I feel like the Democrats give their fringe its due place, listen when they make sense, and have consequences when they are over the line; but the Republicans these days have let their fringe take over and control them with fear and truly dishonorable tactics.

I’m the PP and I’m seriously thinking of sitting this election out or voting third party. I do not know what else to do.

The country has moved right. Republicans are becoming some version of a Nationalists party, Democrats have become the old Republicans, and the real left is being squeezed out. A progressive party will emerge in a decade or two.

You are a democrat.

As to the bolded comment, when the misinformation is Russian psyops, we, as a country, should just let it stand? We should provide a platform for "stop the steal" which was all lies and BS?

Nothing whatsoever. Republicans enjoy pretending to be disaffected Democrats.

I don’t feel like a Democrat any more. The party feels unrecognizable to me.

As for the question you ask, I don’t think I trust the government to correctly identify what is Russian psyops and what is protected free speech. I don’t want the government clamping down on speech like China does. I don’t mind private enterprises deciding what they want to host online or not, but I do not trust the government to do so.
