For a 22 year old?? No.

Try Universal Standard.

Quality is really good. They have something called fit liberty if her sizes changes and she needs to go up or down within year,

Old Navy and Talbots (those of you saying it's too old - a t-shirt is a t shirt). In my experience, Banana republic is for taller women. you can mix and match swim pieces from lands end. Kohls - lot of their clothes come in a variety of sizes but you may need to shop online and return to the store. good luck to you both and happy shopping.

A 22 year old has no business wearing frumpy Talbot's clothes, whether they fit her or not.

Grateful for suggestions for great places to look for clothing that will fit her well. Is there anywhere in the DC/Maryland/NoVA area that might have items in stock? Or any on-line options that you'd recommend? (Please don't suggest weight loss - she is in eating disorder recovery and that's not the focus right now.)

Cans she go on Wegovy?

Thread is a few years old but if she's still a size 16, she still has an eating disorder so probably not a good idea to do the drug.

Oh, FFS. She’s 22, not 52!

OP asked for work clothes suggestions. I think for work there is nothing wrong with a conservative cut no matter your age or size. It depends on OP's daughter's industry.

DP- I'm 48 and I won't step into a Talbots

For a 22 year old??? Don't be mean.

Many of the other more age appropriate, fashionable stores will have very little in that size range actually in stock — and that’s before dealing with body type. Macy’s will have some options, but the chances of finding something well-made and fashion forward when you need it tomorrow are slim. Torrid will have options— but is probably not the greatest choice for interview clothes.

I hope the DD is never in that kind of a pinch. If she is, though, I hope she has a list of options where she can actually try things on if she needs to.

Been there — done that, really missing Lord and Taylor.

Really Really missing Salon Z, but that’s for another thread.

Yep. I used to work with some younger women this size who got great work wear there. I mean, you can find basic pants and skirts and combine them with something from another store. I think the shirts can be a bit much, but you don't have to buy everything in the store.
