Who is saying this? All I see is right wingers saying this. |
The first reply to your comment says everything about these people. |
Yes I think this is a reaction to Trump’s poll numbers. People know the country will sink back in to chaos if trump and the republicans over tune the will of the people. This is why you should never support a republican. |
Haha you must not live in DC. It's not the right wingers. |
If so many liberals are saying this it shouldn't be any problem to show some proof. So where is it? |
What news are you reading where it’s the right wing folks that are not advocating incarcerating criminals? It’s the progressive criminals justice folks who advocate for that. |
Who polices the internet?
Honestly that should be the title of this thread This crime is organized anonymously online It is facilitated by social media and the internet So who is supposed to be handling that? The police? The FBI? I would guess no one is. So this is where we are. And rural America can expect this trend to head their way in some form soon enough. They are always behind, but never immune. Continue to be smug at your own peril. |
Truly, what’s your defense for the vast criming of the GOP in general and Donald Trump in particular? |
The question was "What are these "community services" that would be as effective at preventing crime as law enforcement[b]?" As effective as law enforcement implies that they are effective. Spoiler alert - they are not. But you can't argue that they should be funded because they're effective at preventing crime and then balk when someone asks you how they are doing that exactly? |
Who says any of the organizers or supposed looters are local Philadelphians? |
I think there was a song written about that..... I live in a very rural community in a southern state. Our police dept. and sheriff's dept. are both very small. But, I can assure you..... if anyone tried to come here and do what they did in Philly, they wouldn't last very long. And, anyone caught pulling this crap would spend a good amount of time behind bars.... that is, when they are not working along the rural roads picking up trash under the Sheriff's watchful eye and performing other community services during their incarceration. |
Philadelphia police arrested more than 50 people after multiple stores, including Apple, in the Center City area were ransacked Tuesday night following the gathering of a large crowd that, at one point, grew to about 100 young adults and teenagers, authorities said. The commissioner said police believe the teenagers and young adults who ransacked businesses, including an Apple store, Footlocker and Lululemon, came from different areas around the city. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2023/09/27/philadelphia-center-city-looting-juveniles-arrested/70978349007/ |
I live in a small town too, you aren’t special. These problems will rear their head in a different way, but we’ll see it. And All the faux machismo in the world isn’t going to help. Our laws are not current. The internet is lawless. Go tell your good ‘ol boy sheriff about swatting and see what he has to say. For all we know these incidents are being incited by foreign agents. We need younger, smarter lawmakers. The lawlessness starts online and spills onto the real world, and we have a bunch of octogenarians , who think the interweb turns off at night, running the show. |
I'm currently in a small town in Maryland. If you drive over 5 mph over the speed limit you get ticketed. The speed limit is 25. |
Saudi Arabia has a very low crime rate. It's difficult to measure deterrence, but it seems to follow that seeing severe punishment, carried out in public, might have something to do with how secure their communities are. |
