Kid has announced she wants to be an Olympic swimmer. How to respond?

nbd. Just find a swim club that she can join for this fall. Doesn't have to be NCAP. Then she'll be hooked up to meets, she'll get times, those times will allow her to do more, maybe participate in JOs, etc.

Next step: search for a swim club.

I wanted to be a jockey when I was 8.

Do year round swim team. If she's crazy fast, discuss with coaches how to support her.

At that age, they don't understand what they are really saying but if she enjoys swimming everyday, ,let her swim everyday all year.

My one at that age sincerely thought they would be on Broadway and the other one at that age was going to Duke to play basketball. They are delusional and don’t know it and that’s amazing for them. No need to burst their bubble and they figure it out.

Sounds great Susie. And sign her up for winter swim.
