It's telling that they allow posts about alleged crimes committed against privileged white cyclists to stay up but lock posts about crimes against Black people.

The mods there are the epitome of mediocre white people.

The reason why crime posts are locked is because they inevitably devolve into racist screeds and the mods are volunteers (unlike Jeff who has to do this on DCUM but at least he’s paid for it). I know it’s more fun to tell yourselves that it’s because the mods are trying to tell a narrative but I’m sure it’s because they can’t spend all their time moderating the posts. Easier to just lock them.

I wish there were more spaces to have rational conversations about DC’s very real crime issues but I understand the mod’s perspective.

Then why do the mods in the original group seem to take issue with the new group? If what you say it true, you’d think they would be happy to be rid of them.

That's been the claim, that they have to be locked because they supposedly constantly devolve into racist screeds, but the other sub, washdc doesn't lock or delete them and yet most of them do not "inevitably devolve into racist screeds."

Saying that criminals should be punished is now considered racist because the reality is that more black people would be punished than white people. Thus any discussion of crime enforcement is considered a racist rant.
