$2M Sale and realtor thanked us with a Yeti.

THIS... the lack of thought is what would bother me. Did the realtor just look around their office and grab whatever was closest and decide it was worthy of a gift??

This whole thread is bizarre. Your relationship with your realtor is a business relationship. Why anyone expects a gift is beyond me.

If you read the posts, it's actually quite common for realtors to give a thank you gift to the seller. I personally would prefer no gift than a branded tumbler.

I was really hoping this was going to be a fun story about a realtor using the service where someone in a yeti costume delivers gifts to someone's house!

You entered a contract for an agreed upon service at an agreed upon price. I assume they fulfilled that aspect of the contract, so what in the world are you complaining about? There is zero requirement or expectation for them to get you a gift, much less a gift of whatever value you apparently feel you deserve.

What an entitled drama queen you must be. Do you also fall to pieces when your Safeway cashier doesn't hand you a thank you card for allowing them to scan your groceries?

wow entitled much.

I have bought and sold many houses costing way more than $2 mil LOL it is a business transaction. Who needs a gift? That is absurd.

I think the point is more about the tacky/cheesy realtor gift, I didn't read it as OP expecting an expensive gift.

A thoughtful/genuine gift is a very nice gesture for a realtor who received a huge commissions check. Sales101

That’s not a gift, that’s doing whatever is necessary to make sure the sale goes through so they get their commission.

Clearly you are not a salesperson and do not understand sales.

I’d love that. Ours did not go to inspection or closing or help with anything outside the contract. We did the mortgage and settlement company we found did the rest.

When we bought our first house, we got a few 10% discount coupons for Macy’s. Second house at 2 mil, we received wine, a personalized cutting board and a Tiffany bowl. All useful. We also get a pie every year from the realtor. I think agents should give something. It helps generate business. I’ll refer people to my last agent.

+1

I’ve never received or expected a gift. Wouldn’t mind a Yeti though.

I always get gifts for my clients but sometimes that looks different when I represent the sellers. When I represent the sellers, I often pay for staging which can be $3k-4K or more for a large home. I have paid for painting, have paid for contractors to fix things in the house that need repair. Did this agent do any of those things? If not, I would agree that the YETI was ridiculously cheap!
