And if you think teasing kids at hockey games (who were giving as good as they got) or celebrating once every ten year lax victories or celebrating a great soccer season involved loud jocks, then all I can say is whatever. |
How dumb are you? Beef is the kids who play other sports. They just don’t play that particular one. Trying to draw some distinction between the two is moronic. |
The BC is the whole school. Many, most of the kids depending on the sport and whatever else is going on that day. But, since it takes two to tango, it would seem every other private school STA plays has some issues. Are you calling to them out for all of their loud jocks? Why so as hominem every step. Furthermore, if the school is filled with loud jocks, pull your boys. I think you have a problem beyond what you are failing to articulate here. |
You’re talking to more than one poster. Those of us who aren’t blind to the fact why some STA athletes are loud jocks who don’t always behave well. My son is a jock, FWIW, and not all athletes are like that. That’s not to say other schools don’t have their share, but to say all STA boys are angels is ludicrous. Of course, there will always be parents of the boys will be boys school. That’s not all STA parents. |
That’s not necessarily true. Some BC kids are non-jocks who want to cheer their friends on. The name calling says a lot about you, |
I never said they were all angels, I just said my kids don’t have loud jocks in their classes. You said every class is filled with loud jocks. You made the broad generalization and are now projecting generalizations on me. Perhaps your kids’ classes have some problem kids but that doesn’t mean every class is filled with or even has loud jocks. But if you assert it, prove it with facts not attacks. And, if folks say “my kid’s class isn’t filled with loud jocks or even have any” that doesn’t make them clueless or accepting of “boys will be boys” behavior. |
| What even are "loud jocks?" I'm a STA parent and am so confused. Are these boys who yell during class or in the hallways? If so, there are no loud jocks. But there are plenty of jocks (if by jock you mean athletic boy) and many are boisterous at games. My son is one of them |
Good point. There is a major definitional question involved here but I do not think the pp who wanted to paint a negative picture about STA boys really cared to be precise. There are many athletic boys at STA but I doubt many or even any fit the “loud jock” description. To wit, at this point in all my years of being a parent, no boy has stood in front of an assembly and, when at a loss for words, uttered “San Demas High School football RULES!” |
One who insults parents rather than kids in pathetic attempt to distinguish between the angelic “jocks”’ and the “other kids”. |
Huh? There is little sense being made here. |

I think the last few pages are posted by C formers. That is my guess based on grammar.
I'd also say that it looks like STA needs to find another Ruge. Its that or have Ms D also teach C from English Grammar |
So sensitive |
| Our family wants to apply to STA for DS this year for 4th grade. Our son has A's and a few B's. Plays soccer, golf and basketball. Coming from MCPS in a highly rated school. Any chance? |
Given the limited spots vs. number of applicants, chances are going to be slim for everyone but you're not crazy for thinking to apply for your DS with that profile. |
There are far more kids that fall in the category you mention than spots at STA. It is about the number of spot available to non-siblings, non-"hook" applicants. It is not impossible, but highly unlikely. It is a very small school and a lot more applicants, many of whom would do very well there (even just from private middle schools in the area, to say nothing of the great applicants they get from public) apply for 7th and 9th than they can accommodate with spots, unfortunately. These days with the increase of number of applicants, be surprised your son gets in unless they are a recruited athlete type, URM, sibling, etc rather than otherwise, even if coming from private and a stellar applicant. "Easier" to get into for 7th than 9th usually, based on what I have seen over the years. |
