I had heard that it's going to be tied to Easter again moving forward, and that the dates just happened to work out this year. |
Name one Christian holiday that isn't already covered by an existing break or on a weekend. Hint: There aren't any. |
The fact that Christmas falls during winter break is a function of the fact that our entire society revolves around the Christian calendar. Just because schools call it "winter break" instead of "Christmas break" doesn't negate the fact that Christmas is a day off for everyone. And I'm not saying that it shouldn't be. Easter, obviously, is a Sunday, so we get it off every year. |
Ash Wednesday. But most Catholic churches have an Ash Wednesday service early (or late) to accommodate work and school schedules, so one can still observe Ash Wednesday and go to school. |
Good Friday. Ash Wednesday. The only Christian holiday that FCPS gives off is Christmas. (Easter is on Sunday, and therefore, not taken off by FCPS. Convenient scheduling by the original Christians!) |
I mean, the original Christians didn't schedule Easter on Sunday. |
Oh... well then, good job to the second gen Christians or to whomever deemed it so. |
FCPS schedules Ash Wednesday off? Last year they were in school on Good Friday. |
Read the previous posts. Pay careful attention to this sentence: "The only Christian holiday that FCPS gives off is Christmas." |
