I imagine based on the principal panel process I saw last year he/they(principals in general) applied for and therefore wanted the job. Maybe a retention strategy? |
He’s absolutely fantastic. |
Principal from Hardy is going to MacFarland (creating new vacancy) |
Teachers think he's horrible. He's turned over pretty much his entire staff and a lot of those faculty members were department chairs and district content leaders. |
How did he deal with teacher absenteeism at Eastern? And if he cleaned house by getting rid of crappy, phone-it-in teachers, good. |
Did Hardy principal have a reputation? |
What do you mean? A reputation for what? |
Lucas Cooke is an awesome principal. A big loss for Hardy and a gain for MacFarland. Congratulations and best wishes to him! |
He is a central office stooge. Chancellor likes him because he doesn’t push back |
Eastern principal was not able to do much at Eastern. No fresh ideas.
He will keep Wilson running but I’m not sure he will move the needle in any way. |
Anything at all. Not being a Hardy family I have no idea. |
Say more about this... |
For folks with direct knowledge of him, what made him "fantastic"? What made him "horrible"? For the record, teacher turnover has been huge over the past few years across DCPS...Wilson lost an enormous number of teachers too (including department chairs). Without knowing how Eastern's turnover compared to other DCPS high schools, a high turnover doesn't really mean anything. |
Anyone have insight on the status of the search for the new Shepherd principal and how the interviews went? Dr. Hedlund is leaving very large shoes to fill. |
Perspective is a funny thing. A teacher chimes in to say that he cleaned house and got rid of the department chairs that have been at the school while it floundered...and they think that's a bad thing. |
