If you have a really hairy bush it can be |
If it exceeds the bounds of a standard bikini bikini bottom, that means there’s hair on the upper thighs. If labia or mons are showing that’s a different conversation. |
If you’re talking the inner thigh - yea, but then that wouldn’t be the top of the thigh. You’re just arguing over hairy legs at that point - which this kid has too. So NBD, it all probably blends together. |
Let her be. Either people will make comments and she will change her mind about it, or she will prove her confidence is true confidence and not bravado and not care what they think. Either way, her parents telling her to do it won't do a thing LOL |
It isn’t that people are looking at your privates. But a big bush coming out of bikini bottoms is REALLY noticeable. It is hard to NOT see it. And people will stare bc it is 1) yuck 2) a shock
It isn’t just “hair on the upper thigh.” It is quite obviously pubic hair unless it blends in with your normal leg hair |
I have dark hair that grows all the way from my nether regions all the way down my inner thighs. Women have this. If I didn't trim it, I would have to wear shorts down to mid thigh to cover it.
A 13 year old can decide what she wants to do; she probably wants to shock people with her natural hair to piss off mom, or maybe she doesn't feel like dealing with it. It's a lot of work, that you don't have to do if you aren't hairy. Mom, buy her a trimmer and also some boy short bottoms and leave them as an option. She may eventually take you up on it or not. |
. This is good advice. My DD never wants to do/wear anything I suggest, but if I buy it and just put in her room, magically she ends up wearing it without saying a word ![]() |
This will make for one interesting pool party invite. Just one. |
How about swim skirt with built in bottom like these?

This. |
One the one hand, I think it’s sweet she’s so idealistic. Maybe there is nothing you can do? OTOH, teens are ruthless. She will be made fun of, and it will hurt. Worse still: kids these days do not just talk, like when we were young. I am learning they will use their phones to record everything. Yes everything. Then they post and share it. All of it. So much more potential for terrible situations. But again- what can a parent do? |
The issue is her daughter doesn't want to wear that. She wants to wear a regular swimsuit despite visible pubic hair, doesn't care. |
Great point. If it is quite obvious, especially from some distance, that she has a significant amount of pubic hair creeping out of her swimsuit, it will for sure be captured and shared. |
Update - I ordered an electric trimmer and board short bottoms. I told her that summer will be here sooner than we think and if she is going to the pool or a beach with friends she can use a regular or electric razor or use the shorts and it’s good to have options. Sorry for the details but I also had a blunt discussion about her period and said if she is ever in the situation where she’s at the beach or pool with that, all of that hair will make things more complicated even with a tampon and she may appreciate the shorts. She said okay and we stopped talking about it. She’s still fairly new to having a period in the summer and isn’t that comfortable with it yet.
I appreciate all of the replies and the discussion. It’s so much easier to talk about this anonymously. |
And I didn’t even think about photos and sharing online. Thank you for bringing that up. -OP |
