So we're all in agreement that most of the supposed "liberal fake news media" is really not all that far left and is not all that fake and unreliable and that right wing media IS sketchy and extreme? |
I think you lost the PP with that kind of common sense. They cannot bring themselves to acknowledge that their media choices have all the legitimacy of Weekly World News. |
I think the legitimacy of a news source probably bears some relationship to the amount of resources it devotes to actual news gathering. So, if your source mainly repurposes news gathered by other sources and uses it as a jumping off point for offering opinion material on that news, it's probably not very reliable or centered.
If your source pays a lot of people to go to a lot of places, talk to a lot of people, and review a lot of documents, it probably has more legitimacy. |
This thread is, with a few exceptions, revealing of DCUM’s cluelessness.
Basically all major media in this country is oligarchically controlled and therefore is right-wing. Different oligarchic factions compete and prefer to do so on the basis of cultural issues like religion, sexuality, gender identity, guns, etc. Those divides are not left vs right, they’re better described as urban vs rural or costal vs landlocked. Does no one here get that left vs right comes from 18th-century France and was about the privileges of the landed? Does anyone really think WaPo works to threaten Bezos’s wealth? |
Oh, good. The Jacobins are here. |
The only centrist, intelligent news is coming from WSJ and various podcasts like Bari Weiss's Honestly, Commentary Magazine, etc.
The NYT used to be the highlight of my week - I'd pay to get theh paper sunday version. Now it is pages and pages of woke drivel about microaggressions etc. |
We’re supposed to take seriously someone who calls the WSJ “centrist”? The NYT is so conservative and it’s just never enough for you people. |
Strong rebuttal! /s |
In the same way that there is a mega thread listing all the evidence of GOP corruption, this would be a great thread to mega thread about how the “liberal” media is right wing. I’ve seen several dozen examples of this kind of corporate favoritism just from the NYT in the last few years. |
Jeff Bezos Washington Post is not Far Left Far Left would be Jacobin |
NPR Nice Polite Republicans. I heard this about 8 years ago. |
I'd actually call the MSM "neoliberal," which means they are all in on Wokism but totally ignore issues of class. The corporations want you to focus a lot more on race and gender than of class. Corporate board members are incredibly weathy. Top reporters range from very well paid to filthy rich. They are happy to let a few more black people into the top ranks as long as you don't ask why they make so much money. They'd rather you think other voters are racist so you split your vote than you all get together and vote based on class. You'd be surprised how many people on the right see this and how many people on the left don't. |
A lot of the MSM is actually clickbaity. CNN is one of the worst offenders. That made them look LW during the Trump years because they would have some dramatic story about every stupid thing that Trump said or did. But nowadays they do similar things with anti-Biden stories. You see dramatic and out of context stories about the Afghan pull-out, inflation, crime, etc. |
