I swear, everything about Montgomery County governance infuriates me and this is just another example:

| Eh. Different states do it differently. ABCs, package stores, selling liquor in the grocery store, or, where I'm from, different rules in every county. Wet, dry, or in between. |

I am from CA. They do stop selling at 2am and start up again in the morning. But they do sell liquor in the grocery store (and beer and wine) |

I felt this way for a bit, but also understand that the money that is made would otherwise have to be made up by the tax payers. A big part of this push is from liquor store owners who see a profit to be made. There is also a big benefit to shopping there (for me anyway) I can check stock (online) and if they don't have the stuff I want at the store by my house, I can have it shipped in from another store - no charge. |

| MoCo makes money off this plain and simple. Every few years they study it and realize they will have a 30mil short fall in the budget if they just leave to the private sector. Is bullshit though and wine selections and be3er selections are shit. Although its starting to get better, apparently they have automated more to make ordering easy. Its all about the money. |

From what I've read, they can sell the license and get "royalties". One of the MoCo council members thinks they should look into it. |

Nothing to do with big government as much as the social/economics of the state. CA, a very left leaning state, doesn't control alcohol sales. |

You can buy beer, wine, and liquor at Rite Aid in California! When I moved to the east coast for college, I was in for a rude awakening with the Blue Laws. So stupid. |
