My 6.5 year old expressed interest in a bed like this.
http://www.sweetretreatkids.com/maxtrix-kids-2story-playhouse-beds.html How long before boys outgrow this sort of thing? Im guessing he has another year? two? We could always pass the bed down to his younger brother but still wondering what longevity he will get from it. Thoughts? |
| if he can pass it on i'd be fine... a 1k bed for a boy that will use it for 1 year NO WAY! |
| I've seen other lofted beds that are bigger that your son wont' grown out of for a long time. Maybe try something like that. |
| I'm pretty sure IKEA does some fun lofted beds too, so there's probably a way to get the same idea for a lot less money. |

My husband would probably like one...
What about something that can later be converted to a less childish lounge space underneath? It looks like you could remove the hangings on these beds. I expect Ikea, too, has options you can change around. My former 6th grade students still liked nooks with pillows for reading or laptop use. |
| We have a loft bed and they have a minimum age recommendation, which is 6 yrs old. But I don't know when they would outgrow it. I was hoping for at least a few years. The loft bed I have converts back to a regular bed or to a high loft (to put a desk underneath). Maybe you can look into one that converts, in order to get more longevity out of the purchase. |
| i'd worry about size/weight restrictions, but I played in forts and stuff until i was 19...and am looking forward to my new child so i can play some more. |
i'm 37 and wish *I* had one!
