The entire Montgomery County Council was at the ribbon cutting of a beer farm yesterday

Anyone else think that's odd?

These elected officials clearly don't have enough to do if they can all schlep to Brookeville to cut a ribbon.

It's called economic development and showing businesses they care. It is pretty common.

So they all need to go? Even the CE?

Businesses open every day, and they don't send out the welcome wagon.

Maybe it is because Agritourism is a growing, highly sucessful industry that is good for small buisness and local farms. Isn't that something they should support.

Well, it's not a tourist destination. It's a place where locals go to drink with their kids and dogs.

It probably has more to do with the county owned liquor stores and wanting to counter their critics by promoting these beer businesses. I think we now have three in the area.

Question: are people outside of the Olney-Brookeville area schlepping out here to drink beer?

People schlep to Virginia Wine country to taste win. Beer Lovers schlepping to Montgomery County for Beer Tours seems likely. I believe this is the 11th farm brewery in Maryland since the 2012 licenses came into effect, seems like a growth industry.

Did David Trone go?

They live in MoCo, like me. It helps to have a beer everyday.

I wasn't there, but only four Councilmembers were in the pictures. Navarro-- it's her district. And Elrich, Leventhal, Riemer -- three of the four at-large members. But it's very common for them to do this. Sidney Katz was at a SoldierFit opening in Rockville today. His district.

The county executive Ike Leggett was there.

The consumption of alcohol is forbidden by certain religions and is highly offensive to many county residents.

The counsel set a terrible example.
