I've been using opk's to try to pinpoint ovulation. What I'm finding is about 3 days after a positive opk, I start experienceing light cramps & a bloated feeling. I'm assuming this is occurring after ovulation because at this point my cervical mucous is no longer fertile seeming. Does this seem like the correct assumption? Or are these more symptoms of ovulation about to occur??
I get bloating and cramps, but right around ovulation. In fact I usually bloat more than I do with my period. I gain about 3 -5 lbs and get pretty bad cramps. For me that's about a day after the OPK is positive. I am not sure if it comes just before or just after, but must be close to the day given all the other indicators. So definitely can happen! Is it possible you are ovulating later than you think? Have you tried continuing to use OPKs after the first positive? How does your period align relative to the OPK and bloating/cramping?
Much more bloating than with my period.
I think the question is WHEN you are ovulating. It's possible you are ovulating during the bloating/cramping. Use your period as a guide. Depending when it comes you can count back to figure out generally when ovulation was.
OP here. These are always occurring after my opk has been negative for a day, and around day 16 of a 26 cycle. All the cervical mucous & opk signs point to day 12-14 for ovulation. Perhaps I need to start temping to see if maybe im ovulating later than I think thus the bloating/cramps on day 16. Could also explain why what I thought was perfect timing for 4 cycles has not led to pregnancy.
**should say opk negative for 3 days
Hey OP. I have had the same issue cramps for a couple of days after ovulation. I got it checked and even had an US done the doctor said nothing to worry about it is possibly that as your ovulate something gets released and irritates the system. Or a cyst forms on the ovary (apparently a normal occursance) all that to say after going to PCP, an OB and a fertility specialist they all concluded its ovulation pain and completely normal and should not cause issues with fertility. If you want to for peace of mind tell your OB next time and get an US done.. Hope this helps because I could not find any info online when I was typing in my symptoms!!
