We live in Bethesda and are looking for venues to have a low key, reform bar mitzvah for our son. Does anyone have a suggestion? We don't have over-the-top, nor do we have the means to do that. But our boy wants a party and doesn't want it in our backyard in May. Thx for any ideas on the moco or DC area! |

Last year DD was invited to three bar/bat mitzvahs at Rock Creek Mansion in Bethesda.

Bcc rescue squad at corner of Old Georgetown and Battery Lane. They have upstairs party room and my kids went to parties there. |
Thanks for these suggestions! Any suggestions re: DJs who are not cheesy? |
Village Center in Village of Friendship Heights, off Wisconsin Avenue at South Park. You would need a separate caterer. |
How about Israel (yes, the country) if you want to make it a meaningful family time, or 6th & I for a local but spiritual place?
If you are just talking about the party, I'd check out renting a rec center -- my sister did that for her wedding and it was both gorgeous and affordable. |
How about suggestions venues in Arlington and falls church? |
Can I ask: what rec center did you rent out? We are looking for spots in bethesda/chevy chase/ Kensington. Thx |
We had ours at F Scotts. When you say not over the top is that not over the top crazy or small budget. Its a great space. Split level - dance floor on the bottom/bar restaurant on top. Kids take the bottom parents take the top. |

Rec center bar/bat mitzvahs never come across as that celebratory. maybe if they are at night. DS went to a few during the day and they were Meh. |
