anyone tried washing the Land's End backpacks?

I bought a Land's End backpack for my kindergartner last year which has held up really well. It is definitely dirty, though, and when I went to wash it I read that they only recommend spot cleaning. Has anyone tried washing it in the washing machine on delicate or handwash cold? Did it come out ok? I have plenty of time to air dry it (FFX county kid) but I don't want to ruin it.

Thanks!

Huh. I guess I didn't read the directions. I just washed both of the ones I bought last year and they came out great.

I washed my child's. Put it in a mesh bag so the straps wouldn't bang around, washed it on normal cycle, warm water. Hung to dry.

We wash them all the time. At least once every 2-3 weeks and they come out great. We air dry them.

My son has had his for 4 years and I wash it all the time... speed cycle, cold water, low spin. Air dry. It looks great.

Fantastic, thanks!

I thought it was a weird instruction.

We wash them every time we get a lice letter. cold, delicate.

Yes! I think I avoided it for awhile, but one day it became obvious that it needed washing. I washed using the gentlest cycle on the washer and hung to dry ( they dry very fast)

What about the foam padding on the inside? Does it dry sufficiently without getting moldy?
