I have recently gotten in the habit of baking bread again now that my twins are eating solids. They really love it, but we go through about a loaf a week, and I prefer to use organic flour which gets expensive. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations where I could buy high quality organic flour in bulk? |
I would try Glut co-op in Mt Ranier. MOM's Organic Market sells big bags of nice sprouted flour, which I love to bake with, but it's not the cheapest. |
I order mine through Amazon and get 25lbs at a time: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0049YMA9W/ref=sxts1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1470881926&sr=1
They have a few different kinds of flour but I get both the organic whole wheat pastry and organic whole wheat bread flours. |
Wouldn't buy anything that you ingest or put on your body from amazon. It's full of counterfeit products and they have poor quality, temperature control standards. |
Amish |
Mill your own of course |
We do mill our own actually. It's far cheaper and healthier. I have over 200lbs of various wheat stored in our wine cellar. |
I would also recommend against ordering flour on amazon. Not to be trusted. |
Costco.
Or a local flour mill. Google it |
Restaurant depot (don't know if they still do guest passes)
Restaurant Store Baker's Authority Central milling But for one loaf a week - you don't really need flour in bulk |
Sorry to go off on a tangent, OP -- but I have very recently started baking bread too ... how are you storing it? |
I buy the 25lb bag of King Arthur at Costco. It’s pretty cheap and the quality is decent. |
Restaurant Depot in Baltimore. It has been opened to the public since covid times. |
I buy my organic bulk flour at Costco.
To the person suggesting Amish, they just sell repackaged flour with no guarantee from where it is sourced. |
