EZ-Pass Maryland--Temporary Plates?

What should do you if you just purchased a car and have temporary tags? Can you register the temporary tags online?
Also, if you are a DC resident, there should be no monthly account maintenance fee, right?

Some states don't allow you to register temporary tags, FYI, and the MD EZ Pass website has NO information about temporary tags. There's googling, and then there's more googling...

Which is why you actually contact them. Call the number provided or send an email if you don't want to sit on hold.

You dont' need to register your tags at all. That's just a backup in case the transponder doesn't work. Then they photograph your plate and charge it to your account that way.

Well, having just tried to register MD online, you cannot complete the registration until you register at least one tag.

Yes, you have to tie the transponder to the plates.

We bought a used car and have temporary plates. We are going to use our same license plates, but have to wait for the registration card. Can we use our old ezpass on I 66 now?
