Why all the hype over Visitation?

Our DD daughter is applying to all-girl high schools next year, and all we here about is how magical Visitation is. We've seen other schools that seem a bit more "magical" to be honest (Stone Ridge and NCS, for example). But there is this mania over Visitation. Why? It's a beautiful campus but beyond that....

One person's magical is another person's hype. Go with what seems comfortable to your child.

It's an old line school, or was, and some people just need to feel a part of that for social reasons. I'd rather send me child to the school that's the best fit for her.

I have never heard any Visitation hype. You must have just happened to talk to some people who love Visitation.

I'm not sure I've heard hype over Visi or it being called "magical" within Catholic school circles. I've heard it called an excellent school that is very rigorous, but magical, not really.

I think she just means the hype they project. Ask any student or alum what they think and they twirl their highlighted ponytail and gaze wistfully in the distance and tell you about making lifelong friends in such a wonderful place.

Visi Alum here -

I loved it. I'm still friends with my classmates. Visi is a special place. That being said, my girls choose to attend a different schools. They love their schools, and I hope will stay connected to their friends and their alma maters as I have.

For those seeking a Catholic, all girls education, they view Visi as the top school and it is greatly sought after by k-8 parochial families.

It is not NCS or Holton, but not everyone is looking for NCS or Holton.

No dog in this fight at all. I think this is the sort of statement that OP is asking about. What exactly makes it a *special place*? Can you describe that sense?
