When do you sign up for the fall?
|
| Around this time - find the pack nearest you. What is your zip code? |
| thank you for the quick response. 20015 |
| Go to BeAScout.org to find your local pack. Usually, each elementary school is funneled into a specific cub scout pack, but sometimes you have a choice. |
| Some packs are starting to recruit right now, others will wait until the next school year begins. It's probably best to contact them in August as they are ramping up for the fall. |
|
If you go to a private school out of the neighborhood, do you try to join one near that school?
What time are meetings usually? I am assuming early evening so working parents can be leaders. |
| For cub scouts, you have both a pack and a den. Our pack and den each have monthly meetings in the evening (6:30 or 7). Our pack is associated with a public school, but definitely has some boys that go to private schools that live in the neighborhood -- although I think most of them either have siblings in the public and/or started out at the public. |
| In our neighborhood you sign up in the fall. I would ask on your local list. Ours has boys from lots of different schools. |
| Do they all have a religious component? |
No. Our troop interprets the "God" stuff very liberally and all families are encouraged to discuss with your Scout what god means to you (if anything). |
| Any recommended troops in the 20852 zip code? |
| Religion is a part of cub scouts but isn't forced on the boys or parents. We have boys of different faiths in our pack. Our pack/dens are broken up by school, not zip code. We are in MC. Pack 221 recruits in late summer/early fall. |
m Troops are Boy Scouts. Cub Scout units are called Packs. |
Dens are loosely but not exclusively organized around schools. Ask around your school to see if the kids are in a particular den. Pack 52 includes kids from 20015. Our Den is in that Pack and is mostly boys from Murch and Lafayette and a few private schools. |
