I'm such a KonMari Konvert!

SO, I read the Marie Kondo book and took it seriously. I feel like that book literally hypnotized me into being tidy. My whole family is on the train with the shocking sight I saw last night when my DH rearranged all of his drawers in the KonMari method, plus throwing away a ton. I even have my elementary aged boys doing it. They actually think I bought them a ton of new clothes! Only because they can now see what they had.

I can't believe I have maintained this because I'm historically a mess. It feels so good to have control of my mess!

Anyone else do KonMari out there?

I do parts of it. I kon-mari'd my DD's dresser for her.

I did about a year ago. It was good for some things although I modified her philosophy a little bit. We were in a stage of life where we were paying off debt aggressively and preparing for a move, so plenty of our everyday necessities were hand me downs or stop gaps that didn't exactly spark joy in their own right. It didn't make sense for me to replace everything we owned with prettier versions when I knew we were moving and wanted the money for other things. I made an effort to cultivate joyful feelings towards things that serve me well and help my family achieve our goals. IDK if that's cheating but it worked anyway. Still managed to get rid of an incredible amount of stuff and be left with more enjoyment for what I do have.

It's been about a month, but my entire house is almost Kondoed. It's amazing. I feel so much lighter. The amount of shit I have hauled out of my house is staggering.

None of my clothes spark joy, but I have to have SOMETHING to wear. Now when I buy something that I love I throw an article (or two) away. I do hang all my clothes, except shorts and workout clothes, and have a huge walk in closet. Of 3 walls of bars to hold clothes, my goal is to only use 1/3 of the closet. Working so far. My kids are even on the program and really like it.

1755 here. My goal is to have my house in a condition that if I were to move, I'd be able to pack everything up and not need to throw anything away...that everything in my home would have a purpose.

It took me about two months, but I did my entire house. My husband got inspired and did the garage by himself. We actually have empty shelves in our garage! Our house was very tidy before, but we had closets crammed full of stuff. I lost track of how many bags we took to Goodwill or threw away. This week, I collected another bag to take to Goodwill. I also feel less inclined to buy new things. I went to Target the other day and only bought the one thing I went in for (which is unprecedented). I was watching CNBC, and they were talking about sales being down at various stores, and I wondered whether -- if not the result of Kon Mari specifically -- people are just tired of being overwhelmed by stuff.

Can't recommend it enough.

This is exactly how I feel as well! I also have so much more time now on my hands because I'm not spending my time buying stuff, storing stuff, and wrangling stuff. Stuff takes up a lot of physical and mental space and I didn't realize this until I simplified.

Does the book lend itself to a Kindle format or are there diagrams/photos that make it better to get in print? (Or is there lots of flipping back and forth of pages?) I would love to read it but one of my biggest "hoarding" tendencies is books!
