Place to have lunch after a funeral service at Arlington Cemetery

Anonymous
Hi all. I'm looking for a restaurant that I could host a lunch (semi-private/private preferred) that is close by Arlington Cemetery, either walking or a short drive and not too complicated for many out of state family/friends to get to and has parking. Something casual is preferred. We don't have a ton of money (aren't rich by DCUM standards), so something affordable (I understand Arlington prices will be higher than say the NOVA far out burbs). I'm thinking around 15-20 people probably. TIA

I attended a post-memorial service reception/luncheon after a service at Arlington. It was held at the chapel. We walked to the gravesite for the interment. Then walked back to a reception hall; I think it was Fort Meyer. Probably 100-200 people attended, but I'm sure they have smaller rooms for small parties.

Can you speak with the person assisting you about a luncheon?

I would think the Ft Meyer prices would be reasonable since it's military.

Lebanese Taverna and Bonefish Grill in Pentagon Row are both good. Not sure of their private dining options. Parking is inexpensive in the garage below (short drive from Arlington Cemetery).

PP's suggestion of Fort Meyer is a good one if you can find a contact there.

Sorry for your loss.

Sine in pentagon city would be inexpensive.

I also went to a reception at Ft. Myer, probably for about 50 people. There were a few different receptions going on there at the time.

Probably more of a bar vibe than OP might want, though.

I think Pentagon Row is a good choice. Parking is easy and there are tons of different types of restaurants there.

This is in Old Town Alexandria, not all that close to the cemetery.

If you are on base and go out the Hatfield Gate (right by the large chapel) and immediately turn right to merge onto on Washington Blvd. you are very close to Clarendon where there are many nice restaurants - Green Pig Bistro, Liberty Tavern, Cava Messe, Water & Wall.

I think Indigo Landing is a perfect choice, even though the food is mediocre. Plenty of parking, relaxing views, and easy to get to.

I know it's a chain, but the Outback Steakhouse at Arlington Blvd and Park would be "familiar" to people coming from all over...

After my dad was buried there, we went to Del Ray Cafe. They have an upstairs room that is ideal for 15, they say they'll squeeze 20, and we actually squoze in 23. It was tight, but perfect.

My New England family is not about fancy food. The older folks wanted the basics while some of the younger folks are foodie types. Some were veggie, some were GF, they handled it all. The Del Ray chef worked out a perfect menu for us (it ended up just being that day's menu at the restaurant). The whole family liked it and it didn't break the bank.

We also looked at Liberty Tavern, which would be a great choice, except they don't have a private room so it would just be adjacent tables in the restaurant. Columbia Firehouse was also ready to do a menu for us but would have been a little more expensive, and not as small and charming as Del Ray.

One thing, Del Ray's parking lot is very small. There's street parking in the neighborhood but it may take a little cruising to find it.
I ended up renting a 15-passenger van and shuttling the out-of-towners from the hotel to the cemetery to the restaurant and back. It wasn't very expensive (yay enterprise) and the family really appreciated not having to drive or learn the directions.
