CAbi clothing is crap....they have gone downhill in a big way...vent alert

This is a first world problem, I admit.

I just posted on the MLM topic. But I wanted to see if anyone else is finding the same problem with these clothes.

CAbi is a line of clothing sold at parties (like tupperware parties). I was a big fan of CAbi for a number of years. My closet is full of the clothes.

Unfortunately a lot of these clothes have not held up. My biggest issue is the tops. They either pill terribly almost immediately after a few washes. Or if they don't pill, they get this little micro holes right at the spot where it rubs on button of your jeans. The consultant sent me links to blogs about how you should wear your tops to avoid the holes. The blogs did not mention CAbi specifically, but i guarantee you that the blogs were created by CAbi marketing folks. Can you believe these people? Instead of improving the quality, they put it on the customer to wear their clothes a certain way.

I have tops that I purchased 5 years ago that are still in good shape. It is the ones I purchased in the last 3 years or so that are crap.

I think the company has gone downhill because now that they have a strong network, they have gone to cheaper factories. I can't believe this company stays in business with the crap they are selling at ridiculously high prices. I would rather go to Nordstroms and pay full price or find something on sale than buy this crap.

Sorry this is a vent, but I am so mad at myself for falling for the scam.

So how do you wear them to avoid holes? I have this issue with quite a few brands...

Interesting that it us a first world problem about clothes made in third world countries, but I digress

Maybe buy fewer better quality clothes. Instead of two Cabi crap tops buy one decent, well made, well fitting top. It is not the variety of clothing but how it looks and feels that matters

I admit that I don't understand how you could think that clothing you have to purchase through a home party is going to be top quality.

And not only that, it's just weird to buy clothes at a "home party" and CaBi??? what kind of brand name is that? It reminds me of something a grandma was say she was buying/wearing.

OP here.

What brands...I am curious. I have a lot of tops in my closet that never get those holes. Brands like Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, and others. They are priced similarly to CAbi, but never any holes or pilling. In fact, in my experience, the only tops that have this problem are the CAbi brand.

CAbi recommends the front tuck http://fiveinsix.com/2014/02/tiny-holes-at-the-bottom-of-shirts.html.

I don't buy CAbi anymore. I prefer to buy clothes that can be worn in any way I like.

Actually, CAbi is Carol Anderson by Invitation. Before CAbi was founded, Carol Anderson was a high quality line of clothing distributed in boutique shops and Nordstrom. I had a few items in my closet by this designer. Initially the CAbi brand was true to the Carol Anderson quality. But after a few years it went downhill. Unfortunately I didn't realize it right away and now I have this crap in my closet.

I don't buy anything that I can't easily return, except houses and cars. I don't shop at places with crap return policies or who don't stand by their product.

I've had that hole problem with some Old Navy Tees and they refunded me, with their apologies.

Same problem with Loft shirts, but at least I only pay $20 for them.

No offense meant, but CAbi has always been crappy. I went to a CAbi party probably 10 years ago and the fabrics were subpar. So was the quality. Seams were uneven and sloppy. They used some synthetic materials that were shiny and cheap looking. Every once in a while, you could find a few gems in that season's line, but rarely. I would go to support a friend and usually end up buying one or two things to be polite but they were never worth the $.

I went to a Cabi party and ordered a bunch of clothes. Apparently, the rep delivers the clothes to you later. I received all of my clothes, but one or two pieces were the wrong size; which made be think that the rep just gave me her samples (instead of what I ordered).

I get it, it is a huge investment (for the seller) to buy all of the samples up front (from Cabi), but the markup is too big to give the buyer whatever size you have on hand. It is just bad business.

OP here. No offense taken. I think my first party was about 10 years ago at least. I thought the clothes were acceptable back then. I might still have some of those pieces in my closet...they have outlasted the pieces that I bought 3 years ago. It has gotten ALOT worse. And Carol Anderson is out of the business now, so I am sure it is becoming all about profit now.

My next door neighbor is a really aggressive, and apparently successful, Cabi rep. She truly loves the clothes and loves selling it. I've bought a few pieces over the years. They're way too expensive at full price. She sells them at 50% off at the end of the season--that's when I buy. I have a couple of really nice tops from Cabi that I love. But overall, it's very overpriced and it seems to be a challenging business model.

Cabi uses high pressure tactics to try and pressure you to buy their products, When your product isn't good enough to sell in stores and you have to have a "Tuppperware" type party to sell them, you have a problem.

That's not true. Worth is sold through home retailers and it's very high end. I hate CAbi and think it's over priced.
