Negotiating an offer

I got an offer on Monday with a signing bonus and salary. Trying to figure out what is reasons to counter? I don't want to start right away. How much more is reasonable to ask in base salary and bonus but not excessive? 20k more on base and 20k salary? I work in finance.

Did you negotiate at all up to this point? or is the offer you got on Monday the first money discussion you've had with them?

Also - how senior are you? Is this job AND employer better than your current?

Hard to say how much you can go up without knowing what the offer was. Duh.

If so, you can go up $100K on each.

I'm not the OP but if i had an offer for 130k, and i researched and the average is 150k...what should be my counteroffer? (I'd really like to reach 150k and i believe i am qualified for it) I dont know if they are just lowballing me as a tactiv but i also don't want to walk away from the deal
