DP. Maybe he's just unwilling or unable to put up with the circus that goes with the territory. When, for example, the Ice Spice thing got the Swifties circling, Taylor wouldn't/couldn't just say he's a big boy and let him deal with it or not deal with it as she saw fit; she had to temporarily make Ice Spice her pet in this very performative way and try to fix his image. It's... a lot.

At last, an intelligent take!

I agree. Based on casual observations of them over the years, I think Taylor’s PR machine wanted Matty Healy to clean up his act and live according to more traditional social norms, so the general public can get behind them when they eventually got together. He alludes to that in his song Part Of The Band. Also, she wanted “Peter” to come get her when “he grows up.”

I also think her behavior over the years of loving Healy in secret made him believe that he wasn’t worth it, or that love alone wasn’t enough for her. She needed to “sparkle” and be adored by her fans & the general public, so when he walked away last spring, it also for her sake.

Dp but I also agree with you guys. Matty wasn't (and shouldn't) have to change to himself. She didn't really know him, if she expected him to be okay with that.

+2. I don’t think MH particularly liked it when he had to start publicly apologizing for this or that in the first week of their public relationship. He probably looked down the road and saw more of the same and was like “F that.” I can’t say I blame him. He chose his sanity, sparing her the insults and staying true to himself. And if he loved her, which he very likely did, letting her go took a lot of courage. Not at all a small man imo.

I think it's quite unfair Taylor put him in that position so early in their relationship. They could have let the complaints die down and not comment on the relationship at all. Joe had the right idea to keep their relationship out of the spotlight as much as possible. Not saying they had to be that private but the relationship was set up for failure

Who knows what actually happened. We don't know what she did in private with him.

Have you listened to her latest album?? The one she wrote AFTER her break-up with Healy last summer as evidenced by the melancholy and devastation of the whole album? In terms of timeline, this puts her writing it between mid June '23 - late Jan '24 (she wouldn't announce an album at the Grammys if it wasn't complete). But most likely she wrote it in the fall when she took a hiatus from her grueling touring schedule. You know what that timeline also spells, right? That she was in a brand new, supposedly "happy, safe, comfortable and relaxed" relationship, yet she was writing day and night, feverish with longing and heartbreak for The One. Can you imagine being happily in love with a man and publishing these songs for the whole world to listen to in the first year of your relationship? Can you, truly? I would never. Never ever ever.

She recorded most of the album in May ‘23. There are photos and videos of her entering the studio in NY and singing specific songs from the album in the same outfits all over instagram. All pre Travis.

Especially after this album, anyone who believes this thing with Trav is real is a sucker. They both look like they’re acting. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s closeted.

She and Matty didn't even break it off until June, and most of the better songs on the album are sad songs about their doomed relationship, so this is just not true. My sister lives next to Electric Lady Studios in NYC and told me Taylor was there often throughout all of last year. At least half of the songs were clearly composed later in the year, and recorded even later than that.

Ummm the reverse is now obvious. That this is real. This is the type of relationship that comes after mh. There is no chance he is gay. None.

I don't buy it. Taylor has been dreaming, singing about and rendezvousing with Matty Healy for longer and deeper than most suspect. Maybe it will come to light one day.
Matty gets her like no one else ever did, and it will take a lot more than a man who plays a dumb ball sport for her to un-recall how she almost had it all. MH was her inspiration for most of her adult life, and given how instrumental music is to who she is, that loss is monumental. In addition, there is the physical aspect of being with a lover who you are so profoundly connected to that all other love simply pales in comparison (even if that other love might mean peace, stability and marital bliss in the long run).

I don’t buy this intense love story between them so much as they seem dramatic. If either Taylor or MH wanted it to work , really, they would have made it work. They are grown adults

It does seem like Matty left her in the dust and walked away from this passionate situationship they had. He is somehow doing her a favor by leaving? Since they are going to be sensationalized anyway you do they care?

Except she’s not writing from a point of bliss. She’s writing about how toxic it was.

That’s a lot of fanfic to unpack.

I’m convinced people are projecting their fantasy of some Taylor and Matty scenario.
