| Im considering a career as a nurse practitioner. What the pro and cons of NP career? What is the average compensation career in the DC area? |
| DW is one. Working 40 hours - making 120k right now. Likes her job more than I like mine. Downside is her pay is maxed out. So unless she finds another job, her pay won't go up any more. |
| Are you already an RN? If not, you have about 6 years of school to go through. Great job though. |
| Some state require certain number of years practice before you can become NP |
|
120K is really high for an NP.
Most make $80-90K (in the DC area). |
|
Why not a PA? Our hospital employs PAs who essentially practice like NPs.
What's your background? I like older retreads going in healthcare, although you didn't say if this is a career switch or if you are just starting out. I think added life experience is a plus. |
