How much do I tip ikea delivery guys?

Anonymous
It's a lot of heavy shelving, a crib, and then some little pieces that I just couldn't deal with bc I made the genius decision to shop with my 3-y-o.

Don't they already charge you?

If you pay for delivery- no tip.

Are they bringing it inside and setting it up (white glove delivery)? That gets a tip.

Op here: it's $89 but slightly heavy stuff. Shelving, so I don't expect it to be set up. Really, NO tip? Not even a fiver?

We had a couple of tens on hand for the two guys who delivered our large sectional. Only one of the guys actually brought in all the pieces; we gave him the full $20.

seems you are intent on tipping. Tip away!

We ordered an apartment full of IKEA furniture once, then all the supplies for a kitchen remodel after we moved. One flight of stairs each time Two delivery guys came each time and we gave $20 to each.
For smaller deliveries we gave $10 each.

Did they assemble it too or did you? Was it hard? How long did it take? Thinking of getting one.

We assembled it. Not difficult, but slightly time-consuming. Maybe an hour or two? We LOVE it, but it's since been discontinued -- the Karlstad.

I'd give at least 10 per person unless it's just a minor item.

I tipped $40 each for 2 guys the last time I had a sofa delivered because it unexpectedly did not fit in the building's elevator and they had to haul it up four flights of stairs, which I had not told them when I ordered it (because I didn't know). And it was an expensive, mammoth sectional that weighed a ton.

I would give $20 each for that many bulky but not overly pricey pieces, but as you can see from the above story, I have a tendency to tip heavily.

Why should white glove delivery get a tip? You're presumably paying extra for that as well.

No, I wouldn't tip. You paid for it already. If they do something out of the ordinary, then by all means, tip.

The delivery fees go to the company, not to the delivery guys. Yeah, the company pays them, but they get the same hourly pay whether they're delivering a single light item or multiple heavy pieces that have to go up stairs and through narrow doorways and then be assembled. It's good form to tip service people who do hard work for you that you are unable or unwilling to do yourself.

I'm getting a crib delivered next week. I'll probably give $5 because it's just one thing.
