Any suggestions for a maternity swimsuit that is functional for lap swimming and not for suntanning? |
I bought a pair of short nylon jogging shorts (cause I couldn't see around the belly to do much bikini line maintenance!) and a plus-sized tankini top. Not ideal, but a heck of a lot better than spending $90 on a maternity suit for a one-week vacation. |
I got a cheap one ($25.00) at Mimi Maternity and it is fine for lap swimming! I was like you and just wanted something that provided function over fashion. |
I got a cheap but good one at Target! Also check Motherhood Maternity. |
I just bought a maternity swimsuit from old navy. It's a two piece tankini that feels really comfortable.

I do a lot of lap swimming and found a nice and functional 2 pieces (tankini top) at Mimi Maternity. |

I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a lap swimming suit- THANK YOU!! this link looks exactly like what I wanted-- I just could not imagine trying to swim laps in a two piece suit... THANK YOU. |
I just bought the following 1 piece at Old Navy. Not all Old Navy stores have a maternity section so I ordered online. $20 + $5 shipping. Good enough for the last 2 months of my pregnancy.

I actually have a two-piece speedo that still works for me--the bottoms are boy-short style and low rise, and the top is a racer-back halter. I love it and actually get lots of comments. And I like not having fabric across the belly. Plus, its easy to get out of to get to the bathroom before and after swimming. |
I thought the maternity swimsuits were pretty ick, so I went to my local Filenes and bought a one piece about a billion sizes higher than my usual. Worked great, and was cheaper than a mat suit! |
I kept buying bigger Speedo sizes until I was about 6 months. Then I got a 2-piece one at Motherhood. Its ugly but it stays in place. |
if you're going to buy from Swim 2 Win, try CC10 for 10 percent off |
Do a search on amazon.com - I bought a one-piece by "Prego" with an empire waist, one piece, it was $66 and it works great for laps.
My last suit was Lands End and it was great - alas, they don't make maternity any more.... |
I bought a speedo in a bigger size and it somehow just kept stretching to fit me until 39 weeks. I gave birth 16 days ago and swam until almost the end. It stayed up although I looked very pregnant in it. |
