hunter boots

so all of this rain finally got to me and i decided to splurge on a pair of hunters. but wow--are they tall! i am 5'3'' and they come up to my knees and i look a little silly. plus, i could barely get them over my calves, so i don't think i'd be able to put my pants in....

any suggestions for a boot of like quality. i walk several miles a day (commute) so walkability is the most important issue for me (then, of course, it's being cute).
