Tl;dr: GDS's current senior class has had stellar college admissions results. That might be (read: almost certainly is) partly due to legacy status, but these kids and the school are doing something right. If only the adults posting on this board could say the same...

I heard from some people that GDS pays Ivies (like Harvard, Georgetown, Berkley, etc) as well as some lower tier institutions like Cornell and Duke to accept all their students just as safeties. Money well spent!

A lot of privates in other states have the same stats.

Why? Kids are super prepared and parents will donate. These are generally wealthy or connected families. Win-win for the business of the college.

Cornell is great for STEM even better than most Ivies. Georgetown seems overrated.

Of all the absurd things I have read in this thread, this is the most absurd. It costs Jared kushners family $2m in the 2000s to get in to Harvard. Inflate that and do the math for many students. Absurd

Sidwell parent here---this is frankly ridiculous. Too much of GDS' budget is spent on their head of school's salary to fund something like this. Its endowment is not big enough, especially after building that monstrosity of a building for the elementary and middle schools.

Another note: GDS will never be better than Sidwell. While your druggie kids sit around reading queer literature, Sidwell students are hard at work, creating nonprofits to change the world, getting accepted to elite universities, and obliterating GDS in every way.

Finally: Georgetown and Berkeley aren't even Ivies. Loser.
