Family member who works in restaurant/kitchen bathes 2 times a day to avoid smelling like food.

She is constantly in the shower bathing which is using up nearly all of our warm water. She says does not want the smell of food on her hair or on her body.

What I do not understand is why constantly shower if she has to go back to the restaurant again tomorrow where she will end up smelling like food all over again?

She does not make sense at all.

Why does that cow ever shower? Just going to get filthy again soon enough. Turn off the hot water supply and pretend like you don't have any hot water.

My roommate in college worked in a kitchen. You'd be surprised how the food/cooking smells linger on clothes and transfer to couches, chairs, Etc. She sounds pretty considerate actually. If she's costing that much in water, talk to her. She'd probably be willing to pay more

Honestly I'd just be happy to have a thoughtful person who didn't want to make the apt smell

Food smell is nasty. I'd do the same.

I call troll. Either that, or OP has no sense of smell. Or maybe OP does have a great sense of smell, and gets a contact high from sniffing the delicious food odors all over the roommate's body and doesn't want that to end.
Troll, I think.

Obviously you've never worked in a restaurant. Yes it clings to clothes and hair. She doesn't have to take two long showers though. Two short one should be fine.

Ugh. I couldn't go to sleep smelling of food in my hair. Now it doesn't have to be a long shower. 5 min is plenty to get the stink out of skin. If she has long hair and washes it everyday then that's longer. Why does she bathe twice and not just at night?

We will hardly have any warm water left tonight after she showers again for nearly 1 hour.

Well that's your problem. It's not the showering often it's the 1 hr. She needs to find another way to decompress. So talk gently and away that you totally get the need to get the smell off etc and how it must be a good relaxing thing after a long day but that there is not enough water for everyone and to keep it shorter.

Yup. Tell her to soak in the tub instead.
