My New Year's resolution is to call every FB friend this year

A few of them will be creeped out, I'm sure. How did I amass these friends whom, even when I went to high school with them, I barely talked with? Too bad. You have to talk with me this year. Awkward!

I'm only FB friends with people I have had meals with, gotten drunk with, laughed and cried with, etc.

Why stay "connected" with people you have/ want nothing to do with.

Day 1:

It's not important if I have a ton of drunk memories with you or shared my soul with you in high school. There is a value in connecting with someone who lived in my town, who knew my parents, who shared my current events.

I called 2 friends from high school. One I spoke with once last year. The other I haven't spoken with in 30 years. The one I hadn't spoken with talked about her memories of me in chemistry class blowing something up. Interesting that I have no recollection whatsoever. It made me realize that there are a lot of people you have memories of for extremely odd things. Like I remember in middle school there was this kid in high school walking down the hall singing Undercover Angel, and I remember thinking he must be so tough and cool because he knew the words to this really groovy song. That's my memory of him. Funny.
