What can you do, as a parent, if you are not pleased with the condition of your school building?

Is there anything you can do if you feel the school building is not in good shape? I feel like our assigned elementary school is old, dark, and sad. I feel like even some small improvements, like paint, would make the building more inviting and less depressing.

Does your school have an active PTA? I would probably start there to garner support? Maybe try to partner with a high school where students need community service hours and have a community clean-up effort of sorts.

Talk to the principal. Maybe get a local contractor or painter to do small improvements for free as charity

How is school participation? Can you get enough parents to buy supplies and paint? My kid's school did landscaping earlier this year - some of the supplies were corporate donation, but the majority of the supplies and ALL of the labor was parent volunteers.
