Carson wants to monitor colleges for "Extreme Political Bias"

Most Republicans detest the Department of Education, but Ben Carson wants to use it to monitor American colleges and universities to make sure they remain ideologically within whatever bounds he plans to set. Maybe he will change its name to the "Department of Political Correctness"? If a college gets a bit more free with its thought than Ben Carson likes, its federal funding will be pulled. I've noticed that Republicans like Ben Carson like to complain about political correctness while advocating their own brand of political correctness. It is a corollary of their position that we are intolerant for not tolerating their intolerance -- and Carson is so angry about it that he wants to set up a entire department not to tolerate things that he won't tolerate. That's tolerance for you.

This whole "liberal colleges" stuff is so asinine. 98% of the curriculum is nonpartisan. If you have a problem with colleges and universities broadening kids' perspectives and critical thinking skills then maybe you don't really understand what colleges and universities are actually about.

This whole "liberal colleges" stuff is so asinine. 98% of the curriculum is nonpartisan. If you have a problem with colleges and universities broadening kids' perspectives and critical thinking skills then maybe you don't really understand what colleges and universities are actually about.

I'm pretty liberal, but the lack of respect for any idea outside the proscribed accepted thoughts on most college campuses nowadays is crazy. They're not teaching critical thinking skills, that requires actually thinking about other viewpoints.
