engineered tile? (limestone/vinyl composite)

We went to a couple of tile showrooms today to look at a new floor for our kitchen/foyer, and one of them was really pushing Alterna tile--they said it was a limestone vinyl composite, it does get grouted in between. It looked really nice--couldn't really tell the difference (visually) from some of the ceramic tile we looked at. My big concern is how it feels--it's definitely softer and warmer than ceramic, and had a slight plasticky-vinyl feel. (I actually really like the feel of cool, smooth tile on bare feet, but maybe I'm weird...)

This is likely a forever house for us, so I'm not really worried about resale value, but I don't want something that feels icky or is going to look/seem horribly dated 5 years from now.

Anyone have experience with this or a similar type of tile? Thanks.

Nothing is forever , you need to renovate every 10 years

If you like ceramic tile, go for ceramic. After you figure in the cost of labor to grout the tiles, the overall price would probably similar. Maybe the sales folks get a bigger commission on the vinyl tiles.
