African safari- luxury

Singita all the way. Best luxury experience of my life.
Not sure when/if we'll ever do it again (sad....)

We stayed at Asilia lodges. 10/10, highly recommend both Mary and Asilia. I'll add that we stayed at the Arusha Coffee Lodge the day we got into Africa and I'm so glad we did -- it was good to rest and relax a bit after the very long travel from the states before heading out into the bush.

We appreciated going to the Cultural Heritage Centre in Arusha on the day we arrived, then heading out following day to the bush.

This. The rest of the names here are all inferior. Truthfully, book direct through singita.com. Do 2-3 of their lodges.
Best trip of our lives. We are UHNW.

That’s the only one you know. As if you have seen them all to determine what’s not up to snuff.

+1.

(Pretty sure it was a weirdly written ad, though.)

No, that was me. I find that other forum very helpful for luxury travel?
And tried several safari operators. Singita is hands down the best. And probably the most expensive.
But the very best.
My opinion - and there is a lot of advice out there for luxury African safaris. Everyone tries to upsell you on weird combos. Trust that you know what you like.
Do a LOT of research.

So just googling, it looks like that would be about $30,000 for a week for a family of four, plus airfare? Is that about right?

Closer to $60K minimum for 4 including internal transfer flights (excluding airfare to Africa too).

Just priced 2 people for Singita in 2026 for 6 nights and it was $50K+ including transfer flights. Adds up fast and there’s a lot that goes into the trip that isn’t reflected in the room rate (airport meet and greet, many lodges you have to use a charter to get to, etc)

Yes! Got engaged there and almost did our ceremony there as well.

We stayed at Arathusa (same general area as Londolozi, which is also supposed to be great) and Kings Camp. Kings Camp was more “luxury” but it made me feel like we stepped back in time to bring British colonialists and I personally just didn’t love the vibe. We also saw more animals in Sabi Sands/Arathusa
