Haven't been to McDonald's since December 2023

Every Friday.

It amuses me that some people will only eat at McDonald's if they're moving!

I eat there maybe twice a year when we're on long road trips. It is always delicious -- truly, I think the quality has improved. Last summer, I ate one of their sausage biscuits and thought I was in heaven.

It's the cheapest coffee you can get in Tahoe!

Is this something you note in a calendar? I have no idea. We used to stop for Happy Meals on car trips until my kids out grew that phase...probably 15 +years.

Other than a McFlurry or a cup of coffee, I don’t really eat at McDonald’s. I do like Egg McMuffins, but it’s been awhile.

What is the longest you been with out ?

+1. Even as a kid I hated McDonalds. Absolutely loved Boston Market though!

5-7 years? I recall the pancakes being passable, but the regular menu gross.

Since last Thursday?

2005 in Lima Peru. We'd gotten lost, I happened upon it, and decided I wanted to order Peru-specific menu items to see what they were like.

We don't go on long car rides. We fly, and bring a bunch of snacks onto the plane. Dh and I are both foodies, so we're more likely to make a milkshake or fries at home. I don't understand your point about "how people ... move ..." Why would moving houses necessitate going to McDonalds?

DP but there are certain situations where your family needs to eat immediately, you don't have access to a kitchen, and there's very little open or nearby. Like if you spent the day moving and it's 7:30 and you can't cook because there's no food in the house and you need to eat now, not in 40 minutes when a pizza shows up. The thing about McDonald's is that it's incredibly fast-- you can be eating within a few minutes of placing your order.

Or you could have planned ahead and packed a lunch and snacks. Unless you got evicted in which case, I get it. Otherwise, if you planned for the move, you could plan for the food. If you wanted to. If you don’t want to and like eating McDonalds, nothing wrong with that, but it’s not like it’s hard to avoid. I haven’t eaten there since I was 8 and it has not been a hardship in any conceivable way, because I have never liked the food and it would never occur to me to go there.

We’ve moved to different states and countries 10 times. Sometimes, like in the middle of a drive from Fairfax to Arizona during such a move, the only thing on the road or open is a McDonalds or something equally bad but convenient. You can’t leave pets in the car when it’s hot out, don’t wake to wake a sleeping toddler, and we don’t like to add an hour or more to stop for meals when we’re driving 12 a day anyway.

I also work a weekend job where I’m working hard for 10 -12 hours in a row with no time to eat. You know how many options there are at 11pm?

People’s lives are different.

DP but wow, are you serious? Even though moving companies do our packing and moving, it takes weeks or months to get your things delivered. You live out of suitcases for weeks. You drive yourself to the new state with a car packed full of the stuff you need to get you by.

I assure you that even if you don’t eat McDonalds during such a miserable, disruptive period, everyone will eat at places they don’t normally eat- or even like. Have you only lived in one neighborhood your whole life?

I haven't been there since I worked there in high school in the late 70s.

The last time I had McDonald's was in the Summer of 2010. I took one bite of a hamburger and my, then 3 yo, projectile vomitted (sudden onset stomach bug). From that day, I have a bad association with McDs and will never eat there again. My son's puking was diffuse and powerful. People in the line of fire continued eating as if nothing happened. I hope they enjoyed the norovirus.
