OK, so total tax paid is always going to be a combination of tax rate and property values.
The rest of that list are counties, which usually cover a larger area with more of a mix of urban/suburban/rural. Since property values are generally higher in more densely populated areas, counties will have more of a mix of property tax bills than a small area of all well-off, fairly dense population (like FCC). If you compared FCC to other individual towns of similar size, that might actually be a meaningful comparison. |
Grew up in one of the New Jersey counties listed and I don’t think this hold. New Jersey overall is the most densely populated state. And those counties are also extremely well off, probably more so than FCC. The schools are much better (and teachers paid better as well) so in that case makes more sense although not to say that FCC doesn’t have decent schools. But you’re making a distinction that doesn’t exist. |
