| When our daughter was 13,she was in the middle of her puberty and bedwetting because of it! Because she broke out in rashes from Goodnites and other disposable products,we put her into cloth pin on diapers and rubberpants at bedtime. She had an amazing group of friends who when they would sleepover, would wear her diapers and rubberpants to support her and think nothing of it! |
Agreed with DIY - we decorated pillowcases with fabric markers one year, too, and it was a huge hit. I bought the cases from a vendor on Etsy who prints their names and cute designs on the pillowcases, got a ton of fabric markers, and cheap pillows from Target. Stuck the decorated pillowcases in the dryer while they were eating breakfast, put them on the pillows, and handed it over as they walked out the door. |
People say this all the time, but I don't think anyone is saying they are going to take your child's phone and lock it in a safe. Plenty of people have phone baskets at the front door - kids have access to their phones at all times, but they're not going to be attached to them while watching movies. I haven't had to do this because my kids' friends are very respectful, but I have asked my friends about this and they all think it's a great idea. |
Just let them surf on their phones. That what they are going to do anyway; your planning a bunch of old-fashion “activities” is just a waste of time. |
This is really bad trolling. |
+1 I think people are assuming that their kid has zero access to their phones once they step into the house. Its more to encourage kids to focus on the being together when there are activities are going on as well as prevent bad late night decision making. And yes kids may bring burner phones or engage in other risky behavior but you can only limit as much as possible. Also why shouldn't families that make that rule be allowed to host sleepovers? If they let you know ahead of time you can decide if you are or are not ok with your child attending. |

My 11 year old just did this for her bday.
The hit of the party were these random light up balloons I found at a party store. The girls turned off the lights and danced with them for what seemed like hours. |
OMG. Are you insane? Wearing cloth pin diapers and rubber pants at 13??? |
It was because of puberty, OK !?!? |
Your daughter is probably the one showing other girls porn on her phone under the covers. It happened to a friend's daughter in middle school - she pulled up her phone after the parents went to sleep and showed the other girls "what sex looks like". This is in one of those gated communities in Prince William County! |
They ALL share porn. That’s simply what middle school girls do with their phones. All of them. You did not know? (and don’t give us that lame, clueless “not my child!” You child has watched too). |
It must be soooo hard being a cool mom. You're not like the other moms, are you? |
Agree. |

If you have a big enough car - we did a scavenger hunt for our daughter’s 12th. We had more kids so two mini vans but they could compete that way. Same clues but in different order so didn’t end up at the same place, at the same time, until the end.
Kids really had fun figuring out puzzle clues. And getting “bonus points” like “picture of the most expensive car”. Took a couple hours and they really did have fun. Mostly had stops in places they knew - old elementary school, etc. |
