Has anyone ever left here because of the weather?

You are not alone OP. I've been feeling depressed with the much too warm temperature this week. And it's barely May.

I wonder if there is a coping group for people who are stuck in the DMV for whatever reason and hate the weather. People who don't mind the heat just don't get it. My husband is not sympathetic.

The problem as every mentions is where to go? I'm from the Midwest and it's freezing although last years haven been as bad I admit. But there's tornados and hurricanes and wildfires and dust storms and of course heat and humidity. I'm with you on humidity. Heat is one thing muggy and hot is another. I hate DMV for many reasons besides weather but I don't know where to go. DD actually says she doesn't like it here because it's the least drama filled weather place ever ironically lol! She's right though. Everywhere else weather wise you'll have more headaches probably than here year round.

It might shock you but we are immigrants who specifically chose this area for the weather. Sure its humid but it won't kill you. There's really no hurricane, tornadoes, earthquakes etc here. It's pretty climate safe so far...

It’s all relative Op.

I can’t stand hot places like Texas with minimal trees, water, breezes or shade.

I haven’t tried Arizona or New Mexico.

But Boston, NyC and Wash dC summers aren’t terrible. DC area has excellent pools, rivers, mountains, indoor stuff and outdoor stuff to do in the summers.

It’s not like hot and humid Japan or India or monsoon countries in the summer.

Where else have you actually lived or spent time OP?

Mid 60s I moved to FL again to retire. That was almost three years ago and I love it here. A lot of the reason is the weather. I don't mind hot summers (I've always had a pool or close access to one) but I can't stand the winter up there.

I also moved to Florida to get away from DC winters. The GRAY. I couldn't take it. Summers in FL are no picnic but - as OP is saying - summers in DC are awful, too. Almost 9 years in, we're happy with our decision, esp since we're having an unusually cool Sept here so far.

Weather is such a big part of life. I wish, earlier in life, I'd taken it more into consideration when making decisions about where to live.

Omg, “winter” in DC is like less than two months.

No place has more gray, overcast days than London year round.

But rarely heat and no humidity. Move to England OP! One climate zone all year long.

I cannot stand how long it stays chilly here so I’m debating moving a little further south, but I’m not kidding myself into thinking I’m going to escape summer heat and humidity anywhere on the east coast.

Per my Brit DH, in England, you can experience all four seasons in one day.
