Really? I'm one of Usha's biggest fashion haters but that is actually one of her better looks.

I like it too. Flattering color and cut but some interesting details. Her make up is not my favorite but not bad.

She doesn't have good skin, large patches of melasma and very dark undereye circles. She needed better foundation and a brighter lip.

I love her outfit, think it's the bad hair and makeup that make her look a little dowdy.

Way too much product on her hair, which is styled in an unflattering way. Earrings look silly and eye makeup looks messy not polished.

So comical. I bet you're the same poster who criticized her last year for not looking polished enough, not doing her hair (to your specifications, of course), and not wearing enough makeup. She looked great. The one strapless dress was a little ill-fitting up top, but not horrible. All of her other dresses have been on point, as has her hair and makeup.

Do you...do you think there's only one person here who thinks Usha can't style herself properly???

Usha has styled herself impeccably. I'm so sorry you know this deep down but can't bring yourself to admit it.

You must know her or something because she is not impeccably styled. Ivanka’s Eva Braun dress modeled on Meghan Markel’s famous green dress looked much better.

The BRF is styled much better.

DP

You mean, this BRF?

No. Vanky imitates Megan Markle and Catherine. They are different people than the ones you shared.

Vanky also imitated Grace Kelly at Tiff’s wedding and Audrey Hepburn at the inaugural ball and Megan Markle during the inauguration.

"Vanky"? Sorry, can't take you seriously. And as for emulating Catherine, Audrey Hepburn, and Grace Kelly, good for her. Those are three impeccable style role models.

And yet, if her hair had been down, then the poster who is outraged about "flyaways" would have taken to her fainting couch. This woman can't win. Nor should she try to. I hope she continues to dress in this way - classic and feminine.

I don’t even know what you’re talking about, but for dressing, proportions matter. If you’re wearing a big look like this, with a coat hitting baggy boots, you need your hair down.

How silly. There are no rules. And again, had her hair been down, you'd be upset about that. It was a great look on her.

This photo demonstrates that she looked like a pin head and the boots looked completely foolish with the coat, so thanks for that. A dress coat with these casual boots and a tight head bun on a small head with a big as$ coat looks off. I don’t GAF if that makes you think I’m jealous: her look is crap. That’s what we’re talking about on here.

I like the coat but agree with you on the boots and hair. A hat would have set off the bun nicely.

And not that this is the point of the Beauty and Fashion forum, but it's certainly not like Usha Vance has pulled her punches in talking about other women -- and not just about their fashion, but regarding their worth as human beings. She then doubled down on it.

I don't think ribbing someone for wearing ill-fitting clothes -- when she knows she is going into the spotlight and will be the second most visible woman representing the country on the national stage -- holds a candle to that.

And there was only praise for Michelle Obama here and her choices.

She does indeed have a headshot on that page.

That’s a different photo than what was there earlier. Before they slapped up an AP photo as if she’s not that important.

I have a similar coloring to Usha and camel/yellow brown never looks good.

Me too. So sad because it looks great on much lighter and much darker skin.

+1. I had a beautiful cashmere coat but finally gave it away this year.

It is. And note that in this official headshot, she can't even get the seams straight.

I know, I know, she is ethereal and the baby diaper brown is just to piquant note her gorgeous face needs, but come on, people. Did none of you ever have an adult tell you to straighten your dress? This is toddler stuff.

You cannot be serious. Sadly, I know that you are. How haunting... the seams!

It's okay. It's not fashionable but it's inoffensive. A little figure skater-y but that's a standard evening wear look. Her hair looks weird and I think she should have worn it up.

On the subject of her hair, I appreciate that she doesn't dye it -- I have a similar amount of gray and don't dye it either. But it really wouldn't take that much effort to make her hair look smooth and shiny and healthy. Again, I have similar hair and it can easily look as hers does (and often does like that when I'm just dropping off kids at school or going to the beach or something) but it doesn't take that much effort to make it look very nice. And that's just me at home doing a hair mask and giving myself a blowout with some midrange products to keep it smooth. It's what I do if I'm meeting with clients, going to a party, or having my photo taken for something. I'm not getting highlights or having extensions put in or anything -- just putting a little extra time and effort into my hair so it looks nice in a situation where looking particularly professional or photogenic is helpful.

She can do what she wants but it's so weird to me that she wouldn't want to just look a bit more polished. We have the technology!

Except that she *does* look polished. Very much so. Your obsession with her hair as compared to… yours… is bizarre.

Her hair is sticking out in back. That is not a polished look.

Post a picture. Nothing I've seen even shows the back.

There are many photos in this thread that show it. Not my job to show you her messy hair or deal with your bad vision issues.

None of the photos show the back. But nice try! Wait, have you criticized her fingernails yet? Get to it!

This is an official headshot to be used for formal notifications.

In what barn were you raised?

It's exactly ONE day after the inauguration. Calm down.

The person above suggested it was not true that there was an AP photo slapped up there by saying “she does indeed have a photo on the page.”

News flash: They changed the photo.

Don’t comment on posts when you don’t understand the conversation.

And stop getting so triggered.

This lady looks boring. She is trying to be boring. She looks like my aunt Barbara in 1992 before she decided it’s finally time to color the grey.

Actually scratch that Aunt Barbara is a badass with integrity who wouldn’t comment on your life choices like whether you have children.

This lady is in no way worthy of a fashion thread and should be an afterthought on the Trump Women and their Fashion Mishaps thread. Your brains are all just broken because she clerked for the Supreme Court and is thin. Nothing about this woman is worthy of even our ridicule. We save that for the good stuff.

Misogynist hypocrites, to be more precise. The ultra-critical posters would be going out of their mind if these ugly comments were directed toward any liberal woman.

I think it’s something beyond politics that’s driving the responses here. I just haven’t put my finger on it yet.

The critical posts are so over-the-top as to be trollish. The way some of these posters are harshly criticizing everything about her appearance is something else.

Any woman in the limelight gets torn apart. Are you new here?

Were Karen Pence and Gwen Walz torn down like that? I don’t remember it.

Go Google it.

Those must be the friends that were posting here all weekend, LOL

I'm guessing most of her friends are nerdy lawyers like her and this would explain why her clothes are pretty meh.

Get a stylist, girl! You don't have to go high fashion but people are going to be taking your photograph continuously for four years. Find someone who will put together a system for you that works for most events and then will create evening looks for you when you need one. And I think you need to start from scratch on your hair -- get a lob and a deep condition, start scheduling monthly trims to keep it in shape, follow directions regarding washing and drying.

This isn't about vanity. This is the job she signed on for.

Actually her “job” is to stay bland and out of the limelight. Who has ever cared what the second lady wears? Half the time we don’t even remember her name.

+1
She looked great and not at all like someone who was demanding the spotlight. In short, she looked just right. I loved her inauguration ball gown and her pink coat.

That coat was humongous and weird and it showed off her crazy gray hair which looks awful. I don’t GAF who designed it it did not fit and it looked crazy.

You sound utterly crazy. The coat fit her perfectly. It's a *coat* not a bodycon dress. I don't care who designed it either - she looked lovely.

Here's Kamala Harris's coat from Inauguration 2021. Now THIS is a humongous and ill-fitting coat. I'm sure you agree.

Meh. She was probably forced to wear a bullet proof vest.

Riiiiight... you simply can't admit that Harris's coat was ill-fitting and unflattering.
