This has to be a bot. Grok get in touch Dcum? |
As long as MLSN is connected to MLS they will always field the top teams. It's humorous when parents try to paint MLS Next as a pro only league. This is simply not the case college is always a fallback and college coaches love players with pro level development. |
This is correct. I don't think people are arguing against this really understand how the system works. This will change be an administrative nightmare, once, for US Club (ECNL), USYS and USSSYA. It is going to be more of an emotional one-time nightmare when Q2-3 kids are jettisoning from their teams and dropped down to make room for better Q4's. If MLS stayed BY, they would sign up for this parental lunacy annually as you would have to assess kids from your clubs U13 and U12 teams annually upon entering the ecosystem. MLS did not effectively run their scouting weekend so I guess I won't be shocked it they attempted to go BY without having it properly planned. However, it makes no logistical sense after USYS, US Club and USSSYA went SY. Maybe they will announce a bridge of MLS Next Go and try to bridge rec to MLS Next with U8-12 programming but that is a very TALL order that I don't think they can execute in 3 months as tryout announcements will be pending in February. |
| Agree 100%. MLSN is the cream of the crop best youth players in the country. If you go to an MLSN game you don’t even have to ask what league the teams are playing in; it is obvious to anyone who knows soccer. Plus let’s be honest their badges are amazing! Honestly they could implement any rule they want and all clubs, parents and players would fall in line. I’ve heard of stories where parents will pay hefty sums just for their kids to ride the bench on an MLSN club, that is how coveted these teams are! |
I was following until you called out their badges and kids paying to ride the bench. Let me guess pops, youre one of those parents that wear the "league" caps. |

Again hahaha thanks for the humor and entertaining! |
| The MLS is king guy and the guy trolling the MLS is king guy are becoming less and less distinguishable. What an incredible thread this is |
No one is trolling anyone. MLSN is the best youth soccer league the world has ever known! Watching pro-bound youth players is COMPLETELY different than other leagues. Being a parent of an MLSN Homegrown starter leaves my partner and I filled with unimaginable pride. When I am having a bad day and I feel like kicking the dog, a light inside me shines knowing that my son is basically a professional soccer player. |
So smarmy, good for you. The B tier needs players to. |
That’s not funny. My son is turning 16 soon and that age is very sensitive. If MLSN did not stay BY age cutoffs not only would it hurt his chances to keep his starting role if would not make me feel as much like we are part of the internationally respected professional league that can no longer be ignored. Can you imagine having someone at a cocktail party asking what our leagues age cutoff was, and having to say they are designed to mirror the school calendar? I would be horrified!!! This is a professional league for crying out loud! It breaks my heart to know that some people just refuse to see it. The proof is in the soccer at the end of the day. For example have you ever seen an ECNL team beat MLSN, or even come close? Case closed. Mic drop. |
| MLSN will be going to SY. and so is GA. McLean just announced townhall meeting of the changes. |
MLSN2 or all of MLS? Because that doesnt seem possible woth the pro teams. |
The pro academies can do whatever they want, that includes 8/1 or 1/1. England pro academies are 9/1. They may not change, but it is absolutely possible. |
MLSN1 and MLSN2 having different cutoffs would be ridiculous on so many levels. NAL silver will be the new landing spot for a lot of talented players. The rich ones that want to pretend they are on a pro track will fill out the tier 2 rosters |
