aggresive at time, very volatile, inflexible thinker at almost 6

My son is the above and it is causing problems at home and school. We are involved, good parents. Our other children do not have these issues. Please advise per a therapist. Thank you. (Bethesda area)

Have you thought about Dr. Greenspan in Bethesda? Has he been this way for a couple years or is it something new?

I second the Dr. Greenspan idea. You don't want your child to be wrongly labeled or with a wrong dx so go to the best for the most accurate dx and treatment. He's in Bethesda.

I would like to hear more about this child...I hate having children at this age pathologized or pigeonholed as needing therapy. All children at 6 are pretty inflexible in their thinking and are not good abstract thinkers. They do not have the cognitive framwork for abstract thinking and are not very good at empathizing.

If he is truly volatile and aggressive, I would work on that. But avoid labels please, and I hope you can avoid medication too.

Good luck, OP, and let us know how your child is doing.

Tom Holman is in Gaitherberg, but came very highly recommended to me for aggressive issues in kids.
