In the 80s people probably thought hat Eleanor Holmes Norton would not have an impact on ending apartheid - and she did.

It would be a travesty given all that she has done for the equal rights around the world if we are not able to enable DC to get full voting rights.

E.H. Norton went past her prime two decades ago. She's completely ineffective on the Hill. She doesn't just rub majority Republicans the wrong way; she can't play nice with her Democratic colleagues. Her constituent services are no better. One travesty is how she shows so little interest in helping DC kids get appointments to the US military service academies, which could be game changing for promising students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
