Make sure you have brunch at The Court of The Two Sisters
http://www.courtoftwosisters.com/ I've stayed at the Chateau Sonesta and loved it. The prices aren't as affordable there as they used to be though. I'm going to New Orleans in June and am already dreaming of brunch and Cafe du Monde. |

We went a few weeks ago and stayed at Le Pavillion. Very very nice (they serve hot cocoa and small sandwiches in the grand old lobby every evening).
I took my son (age 10) and we went on a swamp tour (I think if you google New Orleans Swamp Tour you should find some companies that offer that). he loved it (and I did too). They have walking tours at night which are fun (including ghost tours, recounting the ghostly history of the city). Of course you should see the French Quarter, and they have handsome cabs you can take to tour downtown. You should do that because the driver will be local and point out interesting things. Ours had about the thickest Lousiana accent I'd even encountered, and my son loved it. Have fun! |
