Any synchronized swimmers out there?

Anonymous

My 6 year old daughter seems to be really into water gym/dancing - she does all kinds of underwater flips and ballet moves, despite the fact that she's just newly independent in the water. She has a good sense of rhythm and can hold her breath quite well.
Instead of ballet classes, which she finds boring, I thought I could enroll her in synchronized swimming.

Are there any classes for that in the area and if your child is in one, what has your experience been?
Thanks.

You may want to try gymnastics if it doesn't pan out.

My daughter started at the local YMCA and found a local team - her's then was the Potomac Pearls - but you'll find a couple. She did all the way through high school and college. Get used to gelatin and sequins! Great sport

OP here.

Thanks all! To the PP above, does it become grueling, with near-daily practice and expensive traveling, or is it more low-key?

NP here. I used to be one and agree that it is a great sport for a girl.
My DD is also very interested, but we could not find anything local.

Please post any information if you have it.
