DD is 13. SHe started wearing glasses at 9 and contacts at 12. I have awful vision and it looks like she will take after me. I heard that there are contact lenses that will change the shape of your eye to correct myopia (nearsightedness). The contacts are like Invisalign but for eyes.
I'm looking for feedback... TIA http://www.contactlenses.org/orthok.htm |

DS is 10, he's nearsighted and needs to wear his glasses every day. His vision isn't that bad, but is a goalie for hockey and he can't wear glasses under the helmet, and he finds that putting in contacts for practice are a pain, so DH and I decided to look into the correction contacts. We bought him the contacts last August. After the first night, he woke up and was able to see 20/20. In the beginning he wore them every night, now he only wears them every other night, and it will later change to only twice a week. My DS thinks that the contacts are magic! The contacts are pretty pricey, but at least I don't have to pay for glasses and contacts anymore! He has to wear them until he's 18, but it's a small price to pay for 20/20 vision!
My DD is 13, and her eyesight is too bad for the contacts to help(I blame DH, I have 20/20 vision). She started wearing glasses at 8, (nearsighted; only had to wear them for reading the board) and now she has to wear them full time, or she can't see anything in front of her. The optometrist said that she can wear the contacts, but they won't fully correct her vision, only help her. So in the end, she would still need to wear glasses. We decided not to buy them for DD,(why spend $2000 for a treatment that won't fully work?) but when she's 18 she can maybe get laser eye surgery if she really wants 20/20 vision. In my opinion, it really does work!! I would suggest that you book an appointment with your optometrist before her eyesight is too bad to fix! If you have any other questions about these contacts feel free to ask. The contacts really are magic and are a true life changer. |
