Thank you gift for beach trip with friend

Anonymous
My 13 year old DD went to the beach for three days with a friend and her mom. The mom wouldn't let me reimburse her for any of the expenses (hotel, food). Any ideas for a nice thank you gift? My DD can't think of anything. I'd like the gift to be for the mother and daughter.

Something like a Harry & David gift basket or something along those lines. Or, you take the friend on a little trip you're going on. That's the best way to thank the mom.

A nice note that says you appreciate them taking your dd and are thankful for the friendship between the two girls. Then reciprocate (in some way, not necessarily a trip) when the opportunity arises.

One thing to remember is 13 yo's are much better in pairs than alone. Having a friend along made it much easier for the mom -- much less drama (I say this as the father of a 13 yo). With that said, a few options, like pp said.

I'd send a very nice bouquet of flowers or a beautiful potted hydrangea plant - a gift more for the mom - and a handwritten thank you note from your daughter to her friend that also invites her for a movie night and sleepover at your house.

Did your DD take any photos of the mom and friend, or mom and two girls, that could be printed, matted and framed? Most people never print out photos anymore, so the mom might like to have something to display.

I'd say a nice gift card to a local restaurant they like.

monogramed beach towel - lands end has really cute ones - can add mongrammed canvas bag if you want to spend more ...
