I just read that Sandra Reece is moving to Cold Spring ES.
Does anyone know who is replacing her? I saw on the Bradley website the name Lee Meiners as "acting principal" does anyone know if he will take over or of they have someone else lined up? TIA |
| Parents are involved in the selection process so you would have likely heard about a permanent replacement. |
new parent this fall so i know nothing! |
I am not a BH parent, but "acting principal" generally means somebody who is in his/her first year as a principal (was probably an AP for several years somewhere else), and is not guaranteed the job beyond this school year. He will interview, along with other candidates, for the permanent position closer to the end of the year. As a parent, you will be part of that process. As an acting principal, he will have a principal trainer and support team to guide him, and will have periodic evaluations (by the community superintendent, I think?) during the year. Usually they don't put someone in as acting unless they're confident he or she will be a good fit for the permanent job, but it's not a done deal. |
Well this is sort of helpful but kinda confusing. The guy who is in the "acting principal" role has according to his linkedin page been a principal for Moco for the past 20 years.... |
| Lee Meiners was my principal when I was a student in MCPS. |
| He is retired I believe and must have agreed to fill in until they appoint someone permanently. Retired principals often fill in for principals on medical or maternity leave, etc. They must have a plan to appoint someone before the school year starts I would guess, or maybe he's agreed to do it for the year. |
okay that makes sense. thank you. |
| All I have to say is that I feel for the parents at Cold Spring! |
| I see a lot of parents complaining about ES principals. Need to me that parents are involved in the hire. At our ES the principal was there before us. Are there opportunities for parents to advocate for a change? Obviously it's a little awkward to complain directly when DC attends the school. |
| Need->news obviously |
Parents are involved in the same way that staff are "involved." Everyone fills out a survey, a handful of people are selected for the interview panel, everyone is made aware of when the interviews take place, and then central office picks whoever they already had in mind for the job. |
Yes, great way to collect the six figure pension, keep educational consulting and have a paid interim gig. |
6-figure pension? Where did that come from? Even under the old system, no one retires with a 6-figure pension. |
This is so true. They ALWAYS already know who they are picking before interviews even occur... |
